Two teams from Sea Lake in Victoria will be making the journey to Hyden in West Australia for the first round of the 2010 Australian Off Road Championships, the ARB Pinjarra Engineering Hyden 450.

Ross Allan (car 214) will be campaigning his Super 1650 buggy with brother Hayden navigating.

Allan had a successful year in 2009, winning the Victorian Off Road Championship with a first outright at Bagshot (Bendigo) and also finished second in class in the Mallee Shield with wins at Bagshot and Mellool.

news413allan_sm.jpg Allan’s buggy has had major work performed on it over the off season with engine upgrades and an Albins gearbox fitted thanks to Brad O’Brien of Fury Engine Developments at Beverford. Ross Allan said “This is our first trip to Hyden and it will be good to see and compete over the other side of the country. I’m looking forward to an even better performance from my Super 1650 buggy as a result of all the modifications we have carried out. ”

The husband and wife team of Bernie Clohesy and Wendy Hersey will be “making a holiday of the first round” taking part of their annual leave to see the west!

news413clohesy_sm.jpg They will be bringing the Chevrolet V8 powered Mitsubishi Triton utility (570), raced successfully in 2009 finishing first in the Performance 2 Wheel Drive Class in the Mallee Shield series. Clohesy and regular navigator Kim Stacey took three wins including two second outright places at Moyston and Tyrrell Downs and a third outright at Koorlong for the series.

Wendy is looking forward to competing in her first national event, having supported the team for the last 20 years! Her previous navigating experience was in the couple’s now semi-retired infamous Valiant ute.

They have backing from Bernie’s business ‘Mallee Printers’ and Kim’s ‘G&K Repairs’ both in Sea Lake. Also on board are long time supporters Pro Auto¬matics of Dandenong.

Both Sea Lake teams are hoping to participate in further rounds of the Australian Off Road Championship later this year.
