Focus the key for Peter Kittle Motorsports Griffith campaign PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 14 July 2010
finke_dave_sm.jpg On a high after picking up a hat trick of wins at the Tattersall’s Finke Desert Race, Peter Kittle Motorsports is now aiming both barrels of its twin turbo armoury at Round 3 of the Australian Off Road Championship, the MTQ Engine Systems Griffith 700. The NSW round which marks the mid-point of the season, is returning to the AORC Calendar from the 23rd to 25th of July after a five year absence.

“Looking back at Finke, it does feel good to have picked up the hat trick of wins. But our number one priority now is to focus on the remaining three rounds and finish races. We have already achieved a reasonable lead on points, but we definitely can’t relax and we have a big job ahead of us to get through the MTQ Engine systems Griffith 700.” said reigning King of the Desert, David Fellows

“I am looking forward to the race, but because it is a new format we will require a different level of focus and planning. The team will have to be prepared not only mechanically, but physically and mentally also.”

The format of the 700km endurance race will throw up a completely new range of challenges for the Peter Kittle Motorsports crew. With no allocated service breaks apart from three refuelling windows, all repairs and maintenance will have to be carried out while the clock is still ticking.

“There is no doubt that during the 700km of racing that there will need to be planned pit stops in your own time. We are currently working through the different scenarios as a team to formulate a plan of what will need to done during these pit stops.” Continued Fellows

502_fellows_kittle_sm.jpg The same successful formula the team took to the first two rounds of the championship this year will be rolled out again at Griffith. With no changes required to the set up of the Toyota powered Jimco’s of David Fellows and Andrew Kittle for Griffith.

“The new VVTi twin turbo Toyota engine developed by Shane Wilson Competition Engines that we ran at Finke passed its first test at Finke with flying colours and we will be unleashing it again at Griffith.” Said Andrew Kittle, driver of Peter Kittle Motorsports #14 Jimco

finke_andrew_sm.jpg “The 700km format will be great for Simon and myself” said Andrew Kittle, “Attrition is going to play a big part in the race and we will be driving to finish. Every event we greet the chequered flag at this year is another tick in the box.”

For a chance to meet the Peter Kittle Motosports Team and check out their state of the art Jimco’s before they hit the track at the Blue Dot Speedway for the start of the MTQ Engine Systems Griffith 700, head to scrutiny at the Griffith Showgrounds from 4-8pm on July 23rd.
