In a statement released today, the Spencer Gulf Off Road Association advises that it will not be able to hold the first round of the South Australian Off Road Racing Associations (SAORRA) Multiclub series at Port Germein on 10th and 11th of March and apologises for any inconvenience to competitors.

The club had hoped that it would be able to conduct a meeting at the proposed new venue with special permission, but after extensive communication with representatives of the District Council of Mt Remarkable, and other relevant bodies, SGORA has concluded that it cannot continue with any meeting in that time frame as was hoped.

The club will continue working positively with the Council and the other interested parties for proper approval and seek to develop the venue over the course of the year with the view of offering an excellent club/state level facility of around 10km lap distance, to enhance and further compliment track availability in South Australia.

“Three other venues in other areas have also been evaluated and inspected, and considered as options, but given the short amount of lead in time and other factors it wasn’t viable to utilise any of them as an alternative for the proposed meeting at this time” commented Roger Davis, Vice President of SGORA.

“Looking forward, SGORA will use its other already approved and allocated 2012 race date of September 29th and 30th (South Australia long weekend) to run its round of the SAORRA series, which would then make that the 6th and final round of the 2012 series.”

Further details will be advised as plans are developed and realised.

SGORA would like to thank its members, landowners, and especially all other SAORRA clubs for their much appreciated and valued offers of support and assistance received so far.
