Mellool... High and Dry and Ready to Race
Wednesday, 07 March 2012
Victorians are in for almost perfect racing conditions as they take to the track this Saturday for their first hit out of the 2012 off road racing season. The Danbury Park staging ground for the Mellool Short Course has received up to two inches of rain in the last week, which we are told will make for perfect track conditions.

The floods that are wreaking havoc throughout the rest of the state are further south of Mellool. Fresh in competitor’s minds is the moving of last year’s event from Mellool to the Tyrrell Downs track, which was due to flooding in the region, but not of the track itself; with the property owner’s agisted stock from neighbouring flood affected areas.

As of Monday’s mail, a strong field of 22 entries had been received by the Sea Lake Off Road Club for the first round of the Mallee Shield, with Matt Ryan back ready to take on the field to get his hat trick of March wins. Greg Gartner and Jamie Jennings are ready to tear up the track for the first time in 2012 along with Warrnambools Matthew Owen and Adam O’Connor and Mildura’s Ken and Ben Philp.

Travis and Garry Conrad will be trekking up from Melbourne to mix it up with the quality local field. If you haven’t got your nomination in to the organisers, please contact them today before the close of entries.
