A fantastic list of entries is building as the Harvestco King of the Dunes Sand Enduro countdown commences towards March 24, as the stage is set for one of the toughest duels in recent memory in the sand dunes of Discovery Bay National Park.

After a hugely successful 2011 race, this year’s event promises to be bigger than ever and with the added $3,000 first prize on the line, entries have started pouring in from around the country.

“We are absolutely rapt with the entries to date and the mass start will be one for the spectators as some of these great quality race cars from all classes wait for the flag to drop” said Event Organiser Matthew Salt

1252c_sm “Headlining the campaign from interstate will be ProLite front running Tasmanian and regular national competitor Darren Payne who has also won the Tasmanian Sand Enduro twice in his very quick ProLite buggy. Add into the mix confirmed entries Sandy Bowman, Luke Hall, Brad Chasemore, Ivan Schmocker, Ian Fish and Rod Visser and the pace out front is sure to be quick” an excited Salt added.

“The class action will also be entertaining with Peter Stevenson and Matt Hanson sure to be at it all day in Super 1650 class and will definitely be giving the bigger cars a hurry along. Great news also in, is that the current Australian Off Road Champion Sportsman buggy of Murray England, #301, is entered and with a wealth of experience in the sand, this very light machine is sure to be pushing to the front of the pack”.

Trent Gravestock at DTF Race trailers has kindly donated $300 to the first Super 1650 / Sportsman Buggy to cross the line which should add to the excitement of this expected close racing on the day.

1252b_sm “Spectators can expect great wheel to wheel racing all day with perfect visibility – only what you could expect from a sand race with no dust” commented Salt.

Sponsors for the event have been fantastic with some great cash and prizes in the classes and outright up for the taking. Entries are still flowing in and all the ingredients are there for a fantastic race and weekend in the dunes.

The entire 150km race will be run on Saturday 24 March, with many of the teams signalling good numbers for what is always a great night camping and socialising before heading home on the Sunday. Camping is available at the track, which is at the Swan Lake Discovery Bay National Park.

Event details and entry form can be found here.

An added bonus for those unable to attend the event will be the LIVE streaming of race results via offroadracing.com.au direct from the dunes (dependent on mobile broadband network availability). "The plan for 2012 is to LIVE stream results data from each event where we are providing our RaceSoft Scoring service" commented Julie Rogers.  "However, this will be dependent on suitable mobile broadband network coverage.  The next event on our schedule will be the Griffith New South Wales Off Road Championship round in July."
