Preparations for the upcoming Cottage Engineering and Surveys Narrogin Chase are well underway with the track marked and entries flowing. The inaugural event, hosted by the Western Australian Off Road Racing Association, at Narrogin approximately 200km to the south east of Perth, will be based from the Speedway, racing out onto an adjacent property.

1317b_smThe twelve kilometre track promises plenty of challenges as it winds its way through open paddocks, including several tighter sections through the trees and rocky outcrops to keep the competitors honest. The race will be held over the weekend 5-6 May with two sections of four laps on Saturday and a further four laps on Sunday morning.

Multi times Western Australian Off Road Champion Brad Cooper will be amongst the favourites in his #968 Chevy powered BAT Pro Buggy but he will be hotly challenged by a quality field. Other strong chargers include Phil Shepley in his single seat #109 ProLite Buggy, Steve Phillips and the #996 Steveco and Troy Schoen piloting his turbo powered V6 #19 Southern Cross Pro Buggy.

1317c_sm Current Production 4WD Western Australian Off Road Champion Jason Galea in his #706 Toyota Hilux will be hoping for a finish on the podium as will Harleigh Uren, driving the #477 Nissan Ute on the edge and looking to upset the buggies in his hard running tin top.

The battle across the classes is just as intriguing with current Australian Extreme 4WD champion Russ Cullen #801 sure to be pushed to the limit by Daniel Smith in the #834 Patrol and Scott Bryce #888 in his impressive Ute.

The Super 1650 buggies are always close with Rob and Paula Galloway #293, John and Jenni Flynn #253 and the DeBruyn’s #246 all in with a chance of winning their class. Craig Wells has had a great start to his season and will be hoping to do well in his home town in his #198 Razorback Buggy, but will be pushed hard by Mal Yeardley (#171) and George Metaxas (#195).

1317d_sm “The weekend is being fully catered by the Narrogin Speedway in their clubrooms, including a licenced bar. Roast dinner on Saturday night is only $15.00, so no need to pack any food with meals available from Friday night onwards” commented WAORRA Club President Dave Cowan.

Racing will be underway from 10.30am on Saturday morning with great views across the open paddocks from the spectator viewing areas. Saturday night will also include a Calcutta being run in the Speedway Clubrooms. Camping is available from Friday onwards with showers and toilets available.

West Australian Off Road Racing Association would like to thank Cottage Engineering & Surveys, Farmers Centre Narrogin, Narrogin Earthmoving & Concrete, Shire of Narrogin, along with Sin Cacic of Smartline Mortgage Advisors for their support in running the event.
