South Queensland off roaders will be making the short trek 150km north west of Brisbane to Moore this weekend for the Moore Off Road Classic Short Course event, staged by the South East Queensland Off Road Racing Association.

Mother Nature has played havoc with the south Queensland Off Road calendar with three events so far this year either cancelled or postponed due to wet conditions. The turbulent weather has meant that the Gympie Short Course in early February was the last time Queenslanders got to compete on home turf.

The event will be run over four heats, each taking in three laps of the 4km course. The light smattering of rain received during the lead up to the event will help to settle the dust and make for comfortable racing and spectating conditions. Due to the late release of the Supplementary Regulations, the South East Queensland Off Road Racing Association have advised that they will receive entries up until Saturday 5th May, but would appreciate competitors telephoning or emailing with their intention to compete.

Tony Brose in his #869 V6 Cosworth powered Suzuki Jimny Extreme 4WD earned the illustrious honour of winning the inaugural Moore Off Road Classic in September last year; Brose will looking for a good showing this weekend and taking a back to back Moore Classic title.

Other competitors to get their nominations in are David Job in the #914 Pro buggy, who was putting on a good show at the September event, leading the field until an underestimation of fuel ended his podium chances. Colin Gaven raced into third outright in 2011 in the #295 Super 1650 and will be looking to go two better this weekend while Mark Andrews and Steven Jefferies are another two competitors on the early entry list.
