BAT Soars at Narrogin
Sunday, 06 May 2012
Brad Cooper and the Pinjarra Engineering Racing team maintained their overnight lead in the BAT Spec 4 #968, converting it into first outright for this weekend running of the Narrogin Chase.

1332b_smRex West drove the single seat Raceco #967 into second outright, moving up from overnight third while Mal Yeardley and Jordan Russell secured third on the podium in the RGWA ProLite #171

Rain on Friday made for muddy and slippery racing condition for Saturday morning, the track bedding down for the afternoon section and today four laps, resulting in perfect racing and spectating conditions, with dust starting to kick up in some sectors in the last few laps.

1332c_smIn his rookie drive Jason DeBruyn with Dad Wally in the navigators seat put in a superb effort to finish first in class. Dirk Van Geest maintained his overnight lead in the Extreme 2WD #430 to be first in class at events end. Kiera and Hugh Piercy secured second in class with Kiera refining her driving style in the family’s 415 Mazda RX5.

Jason Galea and Markus Christie drove the Flat Out Off Road Racing teams Toyota Hilux #706 gallantly all weekend, taking first in Production 4WD for their efforts. Russell Cullen and Daniel Fahey were awarded Extreme 4WD class victors in the Nissan GQ Patrol #801.

1332d_smAdam and Craig Trewhella were sitting comfortably in second outright until an altercation with an immoveable object tore the rear wheel from the #52 Pro buggy, putting an early end to their Sundays racing. Max Pilmer and Barry Lyons’s flat tyre hoodoo continued today, the team eventually finishing in fourth outright in the #73 Pro buggy.

The Western Australian Off Road Racing Association would like to thank the Narrogin Speedway and the Weise family for the use of their land, along with sponsors Cottage Engineering & Surveys, Farmers Centre Narrogin, Narrogin Earthmoving & Concrete, Shire of Narrogin, along with Sin Cacic of Smartline Mortgage Advisors for their support in running the event. 1332e_sm
