Preparations are well underway for the Sporties 12 Hour Enduro to be held at Mt Ooraminna on the long weekend of 3-5 August. The past two weekends have seen members of the Alice Springs Off Road Race Club and other willing helpers attend the track and help get things in place.

Big holes have been dug for a new septic tank and drains, so there will be plenty of ablution facilities for the weekend. Street lights have been installed in the bike pit area, giving spectators and officials a better view of the bikes as they go through the Start / Finish line.

The water tanks have been cleaned and are set to be filled with fresh water while the old wood fired water heater has been taken to the tip and a flash new gas supported system in place. Fences have been fixed around the place and Baldy’s Bar and Grill will be fully stocked for the weekend.

A new shade shelter has been erected for the bike officials near their pit area along the main straight and this should hopefully give them a more functional area to work from.

The Alice Springs Off Road Race Club would like to give a big thank you to Central Plant Hire and those who attended the working bees on either or both days, and of course to those who have supplied their time, effort and goods outside of the working bees also.

Rusty and Jodie from Real Balls Promotions will be back in the Alice to commentate the whole event, starting in the mall on Friday 3rd August for Scrutiny, bringing the race alive for the spectators.

Camping is free, with the Mt Ooraminna venue supporting full canteen facilities and hot showers. The organisers ask that you leave your dogs at home and remind you that fireworks are not permitted.
