The Chapman Offroad Racing team had their ups and downs with mixed results at the Albins Off Road Gear Goondiwindi 400, round 2 of the Australian Off Road Championship. Fresh from a week at the Australian Institute of Sport Clayton Chapman and Adam McGuire in the #803 Extreme 4WD Pajero prologued second in class in a strong field of 11 contenders.

1480b_sm In the first section they suffered from a broken disc brake rotor, which caused them to hit one of the many infamous melon holes too hard and broke the front diff, however, with the help of Cameron Winter they replaced the front diff and the broken rotor. Starting Sunday well down the field Clayton and Adam worked their way back through the field but in the process, when in another vehicles dust, they collided with a tree causing a water hose to rub through, putting them out of the race. The up side for the young guns, they had finished enough of the event to qualify for the Queensland section and placed first.

Rob Chapman and Ross Challacombe were having a great run, leading the Production 4WD class in the Triton, until their tray mounting bolts came loose, forcing them to stop and use the spare tyre straps to hold the tray in place for the remainder of the section. While still maintaining the win in the Queensland section of the event, the time they lost put them back into third for the event overall.

1480c_sm Leila Chapman and daughter Larissa raced their turbo charged Extreme 4WD Pajero consistently all weekend, only breaking a front diff and a windscreen on the first section on Saturday. The windscreen was replaced Saturday night for the second and third sections, which they drove with only two wheel drive. The all girl team finished up the event third in Extreme 4WD class for the event proper.

The team is always thankful for the continued backing of sponsors Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay Mitsubishi groups, Cooper Tires, Penrite Oils and Chapmans Performance Dyno Tuning.

Thanks also to the Goondiwindi Motorsport Association and all the officials and volunteers that made the event possible. The team will be back in the shed straight away to get the Pajero straight again and the tray rejoined with the Triton all ready to tackle the Teagle Excavations ARB Pines Enduro at Millicent in September.
