A strong field of Sportsman buggies have nominated for this weekend’s third round of the Victorian Off Road Championship, Waldorf and Statlers Weekend Extravaganza, to be held at the Bagshot Motorsport Complex.

Hosted by the Bendigo Car Club, the 5.5 kilometre short course track will see a prologue to determine the starting order on Saturday followed by a one hour heat. Two further heats on Sunday of an hour each will have Victorian Off Road Championship contenders racing for three hours in total. To be classified as a finisher in the VORC you must have finished 50% of the winners lap total.

Competitors nominating for the Mallee Shield section only will not participate in Saturdays competition and to be classified as a finisher will be required to complete 50% of the Mallee Shield winners lap total.

25 off road races from across Victoria have nominated with the list sure to grow with the entry cut off on Thursday 16th August. A good cross section of nominations has been received across the classes with the Sportsman class looking like making a revival in Victoria with six confirmed entries. Not to be outdone both the ProLite and Super 1650 classes have also received six nominations with Alan Hatcher flying the flag for Pro class.

A further six entries has been received across the four tin top classes, and with some hard chargers on the list in all classes, Sunday’s podium could come from some unexpected corners.

“The event is looking to be a big weekend for all concerned, with not only it being a VORC and Mallee Shield event, the Trike and Odyssey Racing Club (TORC) will be conducting a round of their club championship on the Sunday in their chain drive mini buggy’s” added Craig Button, Bendigo Car Club.
