The Spencer Gulf Off Road Association are happy to report progress is well under way for the AutoPro Challenge Short Course at Port Germein on 29 and 30 September, 2012. The Labour Day long weekend will see the South Australians fight it out for at Port Germein for the final round of the South Australian Off Road Racing Associations Interclub challenge; a hotly contested series on the local circuit.

The club has held working bees at the track with an amazing number of helpers each weekend. Old and previous members have returned to help the club establish a new home at Port Germein. The pit and camping area have been formed, access roads to track made, a male and female toilet block is now in place, and all processes are in place leading up to a fantastic end of season event.

1526b_sm Event Secretary Belinda Napper promises the track will throw up some challenges, “there are some jumps, twists and turns and some fast straights. This track is brand new and competitors will extremely happy with the track standard. Our event is being run as a short course, which will provide for some fast and exciting racing during the heats. The track is around 10km long, ensuring some tight and close racing during the weekend.”

The Spencer Gulf Off Road Association would like to thank all who have made this event possible. Belinda states that although SGORA has had a rough start to 2012, that is in the past and the track is the start of a new and bright future for the club.

“We owe great deal of thanks to Ian and Brenda, the property owners at Port Germein, for allowing our club access to their property and for all their help with machinery and manpower in the past few months. We would also like to thank all who have helped with working bees, donations of time and machinery, the list is long and the club is extremely grateful for all who have helped.”

The Spencer Gulf Off Road Association look forward to seeing everyone at Port Germein for a weekend of great racing and fun. “We are aiming for a family friendly event, with hard fought off road racing”.
