The 2013 4WD Hire WA Rod Hatter Memorial Yealering 300 will be contested over the 16th and 17th of February at Yealering Western Australia. Supplementary Regulations for the event have just been released by the Nissan Car Club with entry forms to follow shortly.

1668b_sm The event will be the first Round of the Western Australian Off Road Championship for 2013 as well the first of three multi club events on the Western Australian Calendar, allowing for competitors to get into the sport at a younger age. In 2012 the event was washed out with flooding in the area, but with a shift to an earlier date this year, the weather should be warm and the racing action hot!

For 2013 the WAORC will be using transponders to time the events and competitors are reminded that they will need to purchase or hire a transponder as well as ensuring they have completed the biennial inspection of their vehicle should they need it.

1668c_sm All classes should be well contested in 2013 with several drivers making changes. Rex West has sold his State Championship winning Pro Buggy, leaving the field wide open with the BAT Racing Team of Steadman and Cooper to fight it out with Shane Elphinstone and the Phillips Engineering team looking to lead from the front.

ProLite will again be hotly contested with challengers looking to see if they can knock Craig and Markus Wells of the top step of the podium. PS Racings’ Phil Shepley has been hard at work in the workshop and Kev Holt will be another motorbike powered buggy looking to push for a podium spot

In Super 1650 the field will be wide open with rumours that State Champion Jeremy Lia may not be contesting Yealering, leaving the likes of Galloway and O’Brien to fight it out for an early points advantage.

Extreme 2WD will see Kiera Mann-Piercy looking to defend the State Championship class win from the previous year against the raging trophy truck of Pickersgill and Pro truck of Hood as well as Doneys Baja. Not to mention freshly imported trucks, such as Adam Flanagan’s, which recently hit the dirt of Western Australia for the first time.

Performance 2WD will see Jon Beer in his immaculate commodore lead the way with a few new cars currently being built and looking to hit the track early in 2013.

Whilst in Production 4WD it will be another hotly contested class with Jason Galea selling the class leading Hilux to Wayne Panamorenko, who will look to lock horns with Roadrunner Off Roads Chris Dawes as well as the Filthy Racing girls in the Landcruiser.

Peer Horn will look to continue his consistent runs in Extreme 4WD battling with Owen Davies’ Navara and Brad Krepps’ Gas Dash winning Patrol, as well as the peoples champion Russ Cullen.

With fierce battles up and down the field, this will be one event not to miss. To keep up to date with what’s happening in off road racing in Western Australia, www.facebook.com/westausorc.
