Safari would like to welcome back the A4 buggy category for the 2013 and 2014 event.

In line with the return of this category, the maximum vehicle width for entrants will increase to 2.5 metres or 98.4 inches. This will open up the auto category, allowing for bigger vehicles, such as buggies and trophy trucks, to compete. However, competitors will encounter narrow parts of the Safari course such as farm gates.

The permitted modifications and requirements for vehicles entering in the A4 category are:
  • Meets specific requirements of Off Road Vehicle Classes 1-3 buggies in the current CAMS Manual of Motor Sport.
  • Buggy must have headlights, tail lights, stop lights, indicators, rear mudflaps and navigational gear.
  • Buggy must comply with CAMS noise requirements and be log booked.

Competitors entering under this category will be eligible for the outright auto and class awards.

Vehicle permits are available and can be organised through Safari Headquarters. The inclusion of this category in the Australasian Safari will be re-evaluated after the 2014 event.
