Crowe’s Fly West
Sunday, 24 March 2013
The Runamuk Racing team’s stable of off road machinery has grown with the addition of two Jimco buggies for the 2013 racing season. The three car Runamuk team will debut two machines at the Komatsu-Brooks Hire Hyden 450 over the Easter long weekend at Hyden in the Wave Rock tourist region of Western Australia along with the existing Jimco Champion that Buddy Senior has campaigned previously.

1772b_sm “The sport needs more young blood; so I have bought Alisha and Buddy Junior a car each” said a bemused Buddy Crowe.

“This will be the first time we’ve had three cars at an Australian Off Road Championship round” he continued.

It will be a big commitment for the family team, who plan on campaigning the three cars at the five rounds of the 2013 Australian Off Road Championship, along with their favourite New South Wales State events of Milbrodale and Warialda.

Team owners Buddy and Kerry Crowe will head the team in their traditional drive, the Chev LS2 V8 powered #4 Jimco Champion which, according to Buddy, has had no major work done since its last race at Milbrodale in August 2012, other than a good wash and polish.

1772c_sm Alisha Crowe has stepped up from Sportsman class to Pro buggy, taking the wheel of the 6 litre V8 Chev powered Jimco 2000 Series that the team campaigned at Parker in America last year. Lachlan Andrews will be navigating for Alisha as she debuts into Pro buggy class in the #44 machine at Smithy’s Place next weekend.

Buddy Junior, who has watched from the sidelines since a young lad, will have the  experienced Peter Vial in the navigators seat while taking the reins of the team’s latest purchase, the ex Bob Mowbray Finke winning Jimco. Running in ProLite class under #144 Peter Vial, who usually navigates for fellow Runamuk team member Bruce Chapman, will be well suited to tutor his young charge as he comes to terms with 3.5litre Subaru powered beast.

“We had some time off last year to regroup and decide what we would be doing for Alisha and Buddy Junior. We’re can’t wait to get over to Hyden and catch up with everyone and go racing” exclaimed Buddy Senior.
