SR Racing Revitalised
Saturday, 23 March 2013
Competing at the highest level of any sport takes its toll on a team, and after consistently campaigning the Australian Off Road Championship since 2002, the SR Racing team are returning to the fold after a two year sabbatical.

The son and father of Shannon and Ian Rentsch team have a new found energy and are revitalised ready for the challenges of 2013 as they prepare for the first round of the 2013 Australian Off Road Championship at Hyden in under a weeks time.

“We haven't raced a lot in the last two years” commented Shannon Rentsch. “After a drive shaft failure at Finke in 2011 we decided to take the rest of the year to change the Jimco over to a torque converter configuration along with some engine changes. This took a lot longer than expected but we were ready to go racing again at the 2012 Finke. Unfortunately, engine failure put stop to that.”

Shannon and Ian have spent the time since June 2012 rebuilding and developing the Nissan VQ35 twin turbo power plant and going over every inch of the Jimco in preparation for their 2013 Australian Off Road Championship campaign; the ultimate goal, to reclaim the coveted #1.

The SR Racing team are no strangers to the Australian Off Road Championship, having five titles to their name. “The set-up of the Jimco is pretty much the same as what we ran at Finke last year. We’re running Fox Shocks with the BFG tyres and the same livery” added Shannon.

“Dad and I are looking forward to the challenges of this years Championship. There will be three tracks that we haven’t raced before, so it will be an interesting time, that’s for sure.”

“It’s been good to have a break from racing. A lot has happened in the last 12 months. Katie and I have built a new house and baby Milla arrived in January. It’s going to be great to get away and go racing again, although I think there will be as many baby things in the truck as race parts. The SR Racing team are very excited about the season ahead and look forward to catching up with everyone."
