It’s that time of the year again… time to get your car out of the shed and to the start line of the 2013 Mannum Enduro, round 1 of the South Australian Off Road Championship and round 1 of the South Australian Off Road Racing Association Multi Club series.

The Mannum track is one of the newest on the South Australia calendar and one of the toughest you will find. The track is only 7km out of Mannum in the South Australian Riverland on the Haby’s family property.

The Haby name is prominent within the Australian Off Road community and they have undertaken a huge amount of work preparing their land for the track and infrastructure.

There will be a new program at the event this year with the full length of the race to be conducted on the Sunday. Being so close to town, the organising committee has decided to showcase the sport with a prologue on the Saturday, to be followed by a top ten shootout. This is aptly named the ARB All Stars; with the club paying thanks to ARB for coming on board with the prizes.

Sunday will consist of a total of eight laps for the SAORRA competitors and a further four laps for the South Australian Off Road Championship contenders.

Adelaide Buggy Club representative Luke Erceg commented “the track at Haby’s place is approximately 22km long and consists of limestone, dirt and sand. It is one of the most challenging tracks you will race on in this country and the thrill of finishing is a reward. The track is rough, rocky and will test both the car and the crew. Rumor around is that the track is no good, it’s too rough and it is a car breaker… but this is false. It is a true off road track with challenges around every corner which makes you drive smart and get to the finish. There are rough sections that you will pick your way through in second gear and there are fast straights that will let you stretch your legs and give you a chance to catch your breath.”

“So if you are up for a challenge to start the year, Mannum is a great track for a shakedown; so get your entries in for the Mannum Enduro. The question you need to ask yourself is… are you tough enough?”
