PRT Countdown
Sunday, 24 March 2013
As the countdown to round 1 of the Australian Off Road Championship at Hyden draws nearer, so does the countdown for the end of the Piercy Racing Team fundraisers. With the Breast Cancer Care WA fundraising drive drawing to a close, Kiera and her team have been out trying to raise as much money as possible and currently the mark stands at $1,470 raised for the charity.

1780b_sm “I’m hoping we can get past the $2,000 mark. We will be running around taking donations on the weekend so we need everyone to dig deep and help us get there. It shouldn’t be hard to find us, I’m making the boys run around in purple shirts” said Kiera of the fundraiser.

But whilst the team has dedicated a lot of time to raising money, they also have organised to visit the local country schools with the Extreme 2WD Mazda RX5 and talk to the kids about the race, off road racing along with mentoring messages, as a way of giving back to the communities.

1780c_sm The initiative, which is being pushed by Western Desert Racers and Eventscorp Royalties for Regions Scheme, was a big hit last year with Jason Galea from the Flat Out Off Road Racing Team doing the talks. This year should be bigger and better with Kiera representing women in motor sport and getting out there along with Jason to get the kids all revved up before a big weekend of racing.

With so much going on in the background, the team has still not taken their eyes off the big prize of Australian Off Road Championship glory. The PRT crew are working hard to rectify the last races power steering problems and get the #415 machine ready for a big battle with many impressive imported trophy trucks making the trip to Hyden to do battle at Smithy’s Place for round 2 of the Western Australian Off Road Championship and the opening round of the Australian Off Road Championship

1780d_sm “I’d also like to thank Telf and the team at Sportzprint for helping us out with our new team shirts; they have done an awesome job” added Kiera.

“PRT would also like to thank the Smith family for their time and effort over the past 25 years in providing not just a racetrack, but a second home for off roaders from all around Australia. Without the generosity of people like this in the sport, we would not be where we are today. Thank you for 25 years at Smithy’s Place and bring on Easter at Hyden one last time”.
