Any offroader will tell you the best thing about off road racing is its people. Offroaders will go out of their way to help another in need, and while this has been proven time and time again, none more so than today and the generosity of the Cowie family and Move Yourself Trailer and Ute Hire.

1784c_sm Anthony Telfer of the Mildura based Sportzprint was on his way to Western Australia for round one of the Australia Off Road Championship as the event merchandiser, when his tow vehicle decided that Port Augusta was as far as it wanted to go.

After numerous calls around town, the general consensus was a cracked head or gasket and not likely to be fixed for a few days. “We needed to be in Hyden by Thursday, and it was looking like the transit van wouldn’t even get looked at till then” commented Anthony Telfer.

1784b_sm “Cutting a long story short, I was put in touch with Rob Cowie in Adelaide. Rob, his Dad Bill and brother Wes are Move Yourself Trailer and Ute Hire. After talking with Rob, he is providing me with his own personal Hyundai van so I can tow the merchandise trailer to Western Australia. Not only that, Wes will be dropping it off to me in Port Augusta tomorrow as he and his crew head to Hyden. To say I’m overwhelmed with their generosity is an understatement.”

1784d_sm "SMU Racings' Cameron and Mac McClelland stopped to see if they could help out, Les and Jan Siviour made calls trying to help, Andrew Kittle rang countless mechanics from here to Whyalla to Port Lincoln, but it seems they all have the Easter rush.  In the end, Davison Ford from Mildura arranged to have the Ford Transit van picked up and taken to Pirie North Point Ford to be repaired.  It certainly has been a combined effort from a lot of people to get us back on the road."

“So sometime tomorrow morning the Big Red Z Merchandise train, with its new carbon fibre livery, will be on the road heading west again”.

“I’ll definitely be barracking for Wes Cowie and the #108 Jimco at Hyden.”
