Locked and Loaded to Launch
Tuesday, 26 March 2013
Big things come out of a big state and it’s exciting to see the launch of a new off road race team with so much experience and promise behind them.

The Locked and Loaded team have finally received their new Extreme 2WD Chev powered Mason Motor sport truck as a seasoned turnkey car, enabling the crew to launch into the 2013 season with the confidence they can challenge both track and podium positions straight out of the box.

1789b_sm "We wanted a package that we could afford to run out of Western Australia, keep the maintenance and repairs up and challenge any race anywhere in Australia" quoted Adam Flanagan, team owner and driver. "We don’t have the budget to have a custom built car as yet, but we are pretty confident we will be racing and competitive at all rounds and some classic events.”

Adam is no stranger to the sport, coming up through the off road ranks and best known for his high flying Performance 2WD Escort at the Hyden Australian Off Road Championship rounds. Adam spent hours scouring the net, shopping local and in the US before settling on the ex-Brian Coombes Extreme 2WD. Many phone calls and a trip to the states in May 2012 later with Ian French saw a weekend in Vegas and a few miles in the Desert.

"First test run and I was sold. It’s compact, packs some serious torque and responsive; perfect for the rally sprint kind of tracks that make up the Western Australia Championship. We received the car last December, with the help of Mal Yeardley from Racegear WA and took it down to Frenchy’s farm to introduce it to a bit of Aussie dust … and it loved it ... nearly as much as me" said Adam.

The team has some strong backers including ex-rally navigator Byron Hehir, Ian French, Dan Rogers, Karen Flanagan and Tanya French. It shares the stable with Glen Flanagan’s (Adam’s Dad) Performance 2WD and the Production 4WD of sister Kath Flanagan. Glen is long time Performance 2WD campaigner while Kath Flanagan and Kylee Mulcahy are the new all girl Production 4WD Filthy team.

The team will challenge rounds of the Western Australian Off Road Championship and Round 1 of the Australian Off Road Championship at Hyden this Easter to kick off their season. Follow their progress on FaceBook at Lockednloaded.
