Watkins Debuts New Tacoma
Thursday, 11 July 2013
Stephen Watkins will this weekend debut his new Toyota Tacoma Truck at the second round of the ARB Australian Off Road Racing Series, the Griffith 400 in New South Wales, this weekend.

Watkins purchased the imported US built truck earlier this year, deciding to leave it interstate to compete at Griffith before returning it to its new home in Tasmania.

Watkins, a previous Tasmanian State champion, has stepped up from his Performance 2WD Escort hoping to continue his success and reputation for reliability in the new machine.

He is no stranger to mainland competition, previously racing the Escort at Millicent and Sea Lake and navigating for fellow Tasmanian Byron Murfet at events across the country.

The LS1 Chev powered Tacoma will compete in Extreme 2WD this weekend up, against some of the best trucks in the country, including previous Finke winner Greg Gartner and ARB Series class leader Danny Brown.

Watkins plans to return the truck to Tasmania after Griffith to prepare for its first hit out on home soil at the Frontline Motorcycles St Helens Screamer in August.

Action at the ARB Griffith 400 gets underway on Friday at 2pm with Scrutiny at the Stackpoole staging ground. LIVE internet coverage kicks of Saturday morning at 10:45am in preparation for prologue.
