TJM Pro Locker – Lockyer 300… Full Steam Ahead
Friday, 27 September 2013
With preparations well underway for the fifth and deciding round of the Australian Off Road Championship, the TJM Pro Locker – Lockyer 300, the Brisbane Sporting Car Club took time out of their busy schedule to host a Media and Promotion Ride Day; to give their sponsors and volunteers a taste of off road racing.

2195b_sm Those lucky enough to score a ride in an offroader were treated to spectacular views and breathtaking experiences of the course that starts at Mulgowie in the heart of the Lockyer Valley.

Morning tea and a camp oven lunch was shared by guests, sponsors, competitors and club members, along with the television crew who shoot Creek to Cast and The Great South East.

The weather was spectacular and those that got to ride in the vehicles all said it was amazing. One participant, who was a passenger with Clayton Chapman in the new Mitsubishi Triton explained “you’d swear you were going to tip over, but then the vehicle would just right itself; it was amazing”.

2195c_sm Along with Clayton Chapman; Michael Collins, Troy Duff, Malcolm Dunnett and Tait Svenson all donated their time and cars for the ride day.

TJM are this year’s event sponsor and their Brisbane based team came out for the day. The TJM team all agreed “we are thrilled to be associated with the event. Our main market is four wheel drivers which make up the majority of the audience at these events also, so it’s great to have the naming rights.”

An army of local volunteers have been working nonstop since last year’s event to make changes to the course, which included repairing the damage done during the January floods. Sections of twisty narrow track have rerouted, one in particular at the 14km mark now has an open run across a ridge.

2195d_sm Nominations for the TJM Pro Locker – Lockyer 300 close on Monday 14th October with the deadline for early entries, Monday 7th October.

Shannon Rentsch currently leads the Australian Off Road Championship points tally, and although has a decent lead, does by no means have the #1 plate secured.

Rentsch commented earlier today, “this year has been an interesting year for SR Racing; Lockyer Valley will be the third track that is new to our team. We’ve heard they’ve made some big changes since last year, so we don’t think we will be at too much of a disadvantage. Taking home #1 would be great, but we’ll just see how we go.”

The TJM Pro Locker – Lockyer 300 gets underway on Friday 25th October with documentation and scrutiny at the Gatton Showgrounds getting underway at midday.
