New Track For Sedan
Wednesday, 05 March 2014
The South Australian off season is coming to a close with the first round of the South Australian Off Road Racing Association’s Multi Club Series, The Offroad Shop - Sedan Top Track Short Course scheduled for 15-16 March.

Hosted by the Gawler Road Knights Car Club, the event has moved from its traditional September date to March and has found a new home, not far from the old track.

2013 saw the sale of the original track and the event temporarily moving to the Haby property at Mannum.

The Gawler Road Knights Car Club members were excited when an offer of a new venue was put to the club late last year.

Work commenced early this year to define the track layout, with further marking out of the pit and camping area undertaken in recent working bees. Another working bee will see all signs and markers put up around the track in readiness for the event.

Keeping competitors in mind, and wanting to think outside the square, the format for the event will be a little different from previous events.

Vehicles will run the track in heats. Saturday’s heat starting positions will be determined by Prologue results and vehicles will stay in those heats for the two races on Saturday. Each heat will consist of two continuous laps of the 14km course.

There will be three races on Sunday, with the heat starting positions determined by the single fastest lap recorded for each competitor during Saturday’s two races.

Catering will again be provided Saturday and Sunday by Schirmer Shak Café.

Keeping up a tradition instigated by Meg Gosden, the event asks competitors to supply items for charities in South Australia. This year the club are asking crews to bring a hair brush and comb or a torch, which will be donated to SA Kids - in support of children going into foster care http://sakids.com.au

Gawler Road Knights Car Club would like to thank the following for their support of the event.
James and Annette Madden – The Offroad Shop, for sponsoring the event outright.
Bob and Barb Temby, Paul Frank, Jason Lloyd, Ivan Schmocker and Trevor Snow for class sponsorship.
