The ARB Off Road Racing Series swings into action with the ARB Paringa Desert 400 to be held 50km north of Broken Hill in less than two weeks’ time.

2380b_sm Preparations are well in hand for the inaugural running of the outback event, with the venue and complete track located on Paringa Station. A section of the Paringa Station has been transformed into the staging area for the event. A pit/paddock start/finish camping and spectator facility has been constructed over the past several months with the generous support of the local community, and with great enthusiasm by Garry and Terry James, owners of the Paringa Station.

2380c_sm The 80km course, that is currently being marked in readiness for competition, includes a combination of station roads, creek crossing, rocky outcrops, a large number of wash-aways and spectacular outback scenery.

Andy Ryan from Griffith, who last year competed in the Parker 400 in America, said after a recent visit to Broken Hill that the proposed course reminds him a lot of the Parker event without the extreme roughness that the American event had and that he is looking forward to running at Broken Hill.

2380d_sm At the close of the discounted entry fee last Friday, the event had attracted a qualify field of 55 vehicles. With the full fee of $500 available until Friday 28th March, the organisers are hopeful of a good turnout of off road racers that are prepared to test their endurance against the Australian outback.

The Broken Hill Legacy Club have put together a scrumptious menu and meal package for the race weekend. People wishing to take up this offer can only do so by pre purchasing online before the event. The Legacy Club will also be providing a full catering service at the event.

2380e_sm Jason Dann from Fuel Fuel will also be trackside with fuel supplies. Your fuel order can also be done online.

Flat Out Tyres from Broken Hill will be providing a trackside tyre service for the weekend.  Any one with special tyre requirements should contact Michael prior to the event.

Event Information, including the supplementary regulations and competitor list, can be found here.
