The 2014 MBL Sea Lake Mallee Rally ARB 350 kicked off last night with a town festival atmosphere at documentation and scrutiny. Teams caught up with the lasted high and lows of their fellow competitors as they worked their way through the scrutiny line as hoards of locals that came out to celebrate the arrival of the Mallee Rally.

Lake Tyrrell roared into action at 10:15 this morning with the running of the prologue session. Topping the time sheets was last year’s winners Glenn Owen and Mat Ryan #30, securing first place on Sunday’s start grid. 2013 ARB Off Road Racing Series overall winners Danny Brown and George Apted, are looking to redeem themselves after failure in round one, slotting the #42 Jimco into second in 4m09s, securing the second place on the start grid for the two at a time start.

The father and daughter team of Wally and Maree Francombe #942 were only 1.5seconds off the pace of Brown, rounding out the MBL Sea Lake Mallee Rally ARB 350 prologue podium. Andy Ryan and Evan Triaca #50 seemed to have sorted their engine dramas from mid-week to clock in a time of 4m12s with Andy Brown and Mark Sedran #45 rounding out the prologue top five.

Local speedster Cameron McClelland with Mick Ellis doing the navigating duties drove his new ProLite #154 into sixth while the Queensland based father and son team of Michael and Jae Collins made their trip south worthwhile stopping the clock at 4m17 mere hundredths of seconds ahead of the single seat Jimco of Brad Chasemore #10 in eighth.

Scott Rockliff flew the flag for the large Tasmanian contingent, the #10 single seat Rocka A Arm in ninth ahead of Andrew McClelland and Murray Mott #131 rounding out the 2014 MBL Sea Lake Mallee Rally ARB 350 prologue.

The two at a time starts will make for spectacular off road racing as the fearsome machine head down the airstrip straight directly in front of the masses of locals that come for the annual fix of off road racing.
