Stackpoole... Set
Friday, 18 July 2014
70 off road racing teams have converged on the tiny Stackpoole community for the ARB Griffith 400. Stackpoole itself is steeped in off road racing history with the name Stackpoole originating after Keith Poole and Bernie Stack who took outright honours at the first off road event held at the property in the 70’s.

2570b_sm Teams have been through their documentation and scrutiny check and settled in for the night at their campsites. Thursday night was 6mm of rain fall on the property with the campers that arrived early getting a cold drenching. With the rain now passed the forecast is for clear skies and chilly temperatures.

The rain the left the track in near perfect racing condition, with the first few laps expected to be dust free.

Warrnambools’s Glenn Owen and Stackpoole property owner Matt Ryan #30 will head the charge looking to defend their 2013 victory and extend their points lead in the ARB Off Road Racing Series after their wins at round one and two.

2570c_sm Withdrawals to date include Mick Magher #882, Aaron James #93, Matt Owens #31 and #39 Gerald Reid.

Action gets underway at 11:30 with the running of the prologue followed by a one lap sprint around the 80km track at 2:30. Racing resumes on Sunday at 8:30 when team will endeavour to complete four laps of the course.
