Friday, 08 August 2014

The Australian Off Road Championship is heading towards the business end of the year with the fourth round, the Pedders Suspension Coffs Coast 400, now just over a month away.

2610b_sm The supplementary regulations have been through the checking and approval process and have been released. Entries have opened and are available for completion online... click here … Competitors, Please ensure you read the online entry checklist carefully as there are details that are specific to the Pedders Suspension Coffs Coast 400 that require completion with the online entry.

The local organising group have been busy with event preparations, including a reconnaissance and training weekend for the recovery crews which was attended by a large number of the volunteer contingent of recovery personnel. They spent the weekend making themselves familiar with the venue, course, recovery accesses and were schooled in all things off road.

The Pedders Suspension Coffs Coast 400 forms part of the World Rally motorsport extravaganza that converges on Coffs Harbour the second week of September. Included in this there will be ten of Australia’s best Off Road vehicles taking part in an on track demonstration as a prelude to the World Rally Championship Super Special Stage on Friday night 12th September in Coffs Harbour. Also on the Friday night the off road machines have the option to be part of a static display at the WRC Service Park adjacent to the WRC Super Special Stage. Teams will be asked to register their interest for these activity as part of their online entry.

2610c_sm The Pedders Suspension Coffs Coast 400 will feature a grid walk on Saturday and Sunday which will enable the general public the opportunity to get up close and check out the extreme machinery that are the off road vehicles and meet the team members as they line up for section one on Saturday and Section two on Sunday.

Competitors will tackle a total of 400km made up of 8 laps of the 50km course in and around the Lower Bucca State Forest with the pits, start finish and spectator venue just 27km from the centre of Coffs Harbour in NSW. After a 10km Prologue at 11:00 to determine their starting positions competitors will do 3 laps starting at 1:00pm on Saturday and another 5 laps of the challenging course from 8:30am on Sunday.

As the championship year draws to an end, the penultimate round will see a battle amongst the front runners for both outright and class points. Shannon and Ian Rentsch currently sit atop the ladder with 980 points, however, one wheel out of place could see round three winner Jack Rhodes leap frog the Warrnambool team into first place going into the final round in October at Lockyer Valley. Beau Robinson, Matt Hanson and Michael Marson will also be looking to capitalise on any mistakes as they fight for the 2014 Australian Off Road Championship podium.
