Action a plenty at the Albins ARB Goondiwindi 400 as 56 off road teams took to the track for the prologue and Goondiwindi Tyre Service Top Ten Shootout. Andy Ryan and Evan Triaca #50 narrowly edge out Danny Brown and George Apted #42, clocking in a time just 0.185 seconds faster than Brown.

2.66seconds behind Brown was the father and son Mildura based team of Aaron and Tanner James, slotting the #93 Alumi Craft into third. Local legend Mick Napier with wife Karen guiding him around the qualifying track put the #68 Mendeola into fourth ahead of last year’s winners Brad Gallard and Scott Modistach #454 rounding out the top five.

Owen Ward and Kevie Nott unfortunately didn’t finish prologue, brake dramas in the Nissan Navara #832, the team able to fix the drama and have applied to be seeded for section one.

Engine dramas have been reported for the Desert Dynamic TT of Paul and Mark Paul Grant, the #405 unable to greet the prologue start lights. Matt Dunk and Trish Farris #844 have ended their weekend early with gearbox failure in the Hilux. Matt Owen and Adam O’Connor were on track for a top three prologue finish until a misadventure in the last corner put the new Alumi Craft #31 on its side. No damage was sustained and the team have been seeded into the start order for section one.

Following the prologue the top ten finishes took to the track again for the GTS Top Ten Shoot Out. Prologue times went tumbling as the top ten vied to improve on their start positions. Brad Gallard and Scott Modistach #454 halted the GTS Top Ten Shoot Out proceedings when they had a coming together with a small tree which ended with the Geiser Bros Trophy Truck on its side. Minimal superficial was sustained with Gallard relegated to a tenth start position for section 1. On resumption of the GTS Top Ten Shoot Out Danny Brown and George Apted #42 turned the tables on Andy Ryan and Evan Triaca #50, moving into first place with a 2 second gap to Ryan. Mick and Karen Napier #68 moved up into third, rounding out the Top Ten Shoot Out.

Racing at the Albins ARB Goondiwindi 400 resumes at 2pm with the one lap sprint around the 80km track.
