With the ARB Griffith 400 only eight weeks away, the Griffith Off Road Club are well into the planning stages of the event. This year will see changes to the course, including the addition of 20km of paddock tracks to make a total lap distance of 100km.

“We’ve cut out a bit of the rocky section and added in 20km of paddock tracks which gives us a 100km lap. We’ve also reduced it back to four laps instead of five; these changes should see the course hold up better and make for more efficient track reinstatement” explained Matt Ryan.

The event has also made the move from July to March to be the opening rounds of both the New South Wales Off Road Championship and the ARB Off Road Racing Series. “There shouldn’t be too many differences from running in July to March, maybe a bit more dust, but that will depend on how much summer rain we get. The longer track will help alleviate any dust issues if we have them. Crews will also find that they won’t be waking up to a frost, but a more comfortable camping temperatures.”

The course has been completely graded and reinstated from last years’ event and with track marking due to start this weekend, the members of the Griffith Off Road Club are well and truly in event mode.

A top field of off road racers is expected at the ARB Griffith 400 with the off road grapevine in overdrive; from teams wanting to get a jump start on their ARB Off Road Racing Series campaigns to shakedowns for upcoming season.

The Goolgowi RSL will be providing the catering for the weekend including a sit down meal on Friday and Saturday nights and an assortment of delights for breakfasts and lunch on Saturday and Sunday. Full camping facilities are available, including ample hot and cold running showers.
