ARB Griffith 400 Underway
Friday, 20 March 2015
The finishing touches have been added to Stackpoole, the staging ground for the ARB Griffith 400. The banners are up, the marquees up, competitors have started arriving, documentation and scrutiny is well underway; the scene is set for ripper opening round to the 2015 New South Wales Off Road Championship and the 2015 ARB Off Road Racing Series.

2849b_sm With four withdrawals from the competitor list, the field now stands at 80. Sam Gadaleta #38 was an early withdrawal followed by Terry Rose, who’s new Jimco came up just short on preparation time to make it to Griffith. The two Trans Vent Racing Extreme 4WD Mitsubishis of Michael and Warren Denham were late withdrawals after succumbing to the dyno yesterday.

2849c_sm As the sun begins to set, teams are heading to the Stackpoole Starlight Dining Room and Bar for a meal and chat. With most of the field camping, it’s a great opportunity to catch up on the off season happenings and plans for 2015, as come midday Saturday, the helmets will be donned and the race face on as the field hit the track for the all important 18km prologue.

2849d_sm Who will secure pole position for Saturday afternoon’s one lap 100km sprint round the Stackpoole paddocks? Will it be last year’s ARB Griffith 400 winner Jack Rhodes #91 or 2013 winner Glenn Owen #30. 2014 ARB Off Road Racing Series outright winner Carl Haby #56 will also be one to watch, along with brother and fellow Element Off Road Racing driver Aaron Haby #57. Glen Towers #80 is always a fast runner and the talents of Matthew Kittle, Gerald Reid, Danny Brown, Andy Ryan, Bruce Chapman, Brad Chasemore and many more Pro and ProLite racers can’t be underestimated.

2849e_sm Add to the mix the extraordinary machines in Extreme 2WD with Brad Gallard #454 having his first competitor run for the Peter Kittle Motorsports team, Greg Gartner #410, whose speedway style driving is always impressive to watch, Luke Hall #488 who has shown strong speed since his move to the class and Andy Brown taking the CPF Trophy Truck#442 for a weekend drive, it’s impossible to pick a winner of the ARB Griffith 400 prologue, yet alone a top 10.

Dusty conditions will prevail tomorrow as the property as received little to no rain in the lead up to the event, however, the one a time one minute start intervals for prologue and race, should alleviate some of the dust issues.
