2914b_sm The sole SuperLite UTV entry of Alex Mendham and Jordan Payne completed three of the four required laps; overheating dramas with the #670 Polarix RZR XP1000 ending their run through the Stackpoole landscape.

The Production 4WD class saw off road legend Reg Owen recording three of the four laps to finish first in class. Reg drove the one lap on Saturday with Russell Cairns in the navigators seat before handing the reins of the #715 Isuzu MUX over to grandson Tyler Owen for Sunday’s laps.

2914c_sm After completing two of the three scheduled Sunday laps, and with the rest of the class already broken in the pits, the Owen machine withdrew having completed enough distance to be classified a finisher.

The three laps in total were sufficient to give the team the Production 4WD class win with their diesel powered #715 Isuzu MUX. The Isuzu MUX had a massive weekend, not only did it complete 300km of race kilometres, but also over 1,400km of road kilometres.

2914d_sm The Isuzu was driven from its Warrnambool base to Stackpoole for the event, using less than 50 litres of fuel for that trip; it was raced and then late on Sunday afternoon Russell Cairns drove it back to Warrnambool; the benefits of having a road registered race car.

Chell and Brett Salau-Foster in Chell’s first drive of the #777 Nissan Patrol clocked in a good lap time on Saturday but a fuel pump failure on lap one on Sunday unfortunately ended her weekend.

2914e_sm Chad Jenkin and Warren Skewes and the #711 team worked hard overnight to fix the broken front suspension sustained in Saturday’s lap one to greet the start lights on Sunday in the Honda CRV #711. After recording a lap one time, a loss of oil on lap two put them out of the event and on the trailer.
