McClue / McKenzie win Albury SXS Aust Championship

The first round of the SXS Australian Championship was run over the weekend at Albury with Ewan McClue taking victory in the Superlite B (turbo) and Dan McKenzie securing the first win of the season in Superlite A (non turbo).

Driving a brand new Canam Maverick X3, McClue held off the hard charging #619 Polaris RZR Turbo of Cody Crocker to take the win by one point, with a total of 38 points to Crocker's 37 points. Also debuting a CanAm, #698 Peter Carr finished third with a total of 34 points.

The fastest lap of the weekend went to #607 Nathan Weissel, who clocked a 1:55.8 around the AWMCC - Albury Wodonga Motorcycle Club track.

Dan McKenzie amassed a total of 39 points to take the win in Superlite A class in his #5 Yamaha, ahead of the #668 Yamaha of Ivan Szkut in second on 37 points and the #44 Polaris of Tom Evans in third on 34 points. Evans posted the quickest lap in the class during the 6 heats of racing, a 1:59.2 seconds.
