Dondingalong Trifecta for Guy and Hume
Wednesday, 17 May 2017
Outright victory at the Scott’s Hydraulics Dondingalong Off Road Challenge over the weekend secured Justin Guy and Eric Hume #919 a trifecta of Dondingalong titles, topping the timesheets in 2015, 2016 and now 2017.

This year’s event saw close wheel to wheel racing in mixed conditions. Teams greeted the starter on Saturday with a dry track and perfect racing weather only to be confronted with extremely wet condition and steady consistent rain on Sunday. Drivers and Navigators alike were pushed to their limits working with poor visibility in the mud to complete the weekends racing.

However, Guy and Hume dominated from the start, topping to prologue timesheets and mixing it up during Saturday’s laps with Peter Carr and Matt Wyndham #698 and Glenn Hoffman #18. With several teams having issues with water and electrical dramas arising from the conditions, the field changed positions numerous times over the course of Sunday’s racing.

At the drop of the checkered flag, the Pro buggy campaigners of Guy and Hume took the number one position on the podium, pulling a 1m52.01second lead over the second placed single seat machine of Glenn Hoffman #18 who crossed the line with just a 14 second gap to the third placed SportsLite of Scott Muma #1020.

18 of the 36 entered teams managed to complete full race distance.

The Kempsey Macleay Off Road Club would like to thank all competitors and crews for a great weekend of racing and also all our members for helping making the Scott's Hydraulic Services Dondingalong Off Road Challenge another great event for 2017.
