In 2017 off road racing in Australia saw many highs, lows and changes. Events have been won and lost, new champions have been crowned, teams have debuted and teams have retired, and as the year draws to an end, the sport of off road racing heads into the summer off-season break with teams planning for 2018.

For some it will be a busy off season rebuilding and servicing their competition vehicles, and others preparing new machines for debut in 2018.

For 2018 the CAMS Australian Off Road Championship will consist of the same three rounds, and the newly renamed ARB Australian Off Road Racing Championship will continue its same six rounds from 2017.

With many changes on the horizon for 2018 the sport of off road racing will continue to flourish. Matt Martin will be going all out to defend his 2017 CAMS Australian Off Road Championship title although he will be challenged by many contenders in 2018 including the multiple Australian Champions Shannon and Ian Rentsch.

The newly wed Danny Brown secured his second ARB Australian Off Road Racing Series title in 2017 and with his first child due early in 2018, it is probable that he will take a step back from racing in 2018. The question then is, “who will be the 2018 ARB Australian Off Road Racing Championship champion?”

The all-be-it short break now until the first event on 18 February, gives most teams time to kick back and relax, celebrate the festive season with family and friends and make plans and continue their preparations for the 2018 off road racing season.

offroadracing.com.au takes this opportunity to wish one and all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and thank sincerely all those that have helped through 2017 to bring you Australian off road racing at its best.

From the Rogers family - Murray, Julie, Shane, Sarah, Chloe and Nate - to yours, we wish you all the best for Christmas and the happiest of New Years.

Please stay safe and we will see you at an off road track in 2018...
