Are you ready for the King of the Dunes
Monday, 05 February 2018
The King of the Dunes is fast approaching and is an event that should be on every offroaders buckets list.  The Portland Dune Buggy Club welcome Norton Motor Group as a major supporting partner this year, joining Harvestco who have been naming rights sponsor since inception.

2018 marks the eighth running of this iconic event and the PDBC race committee are expecting a high number of entries, with many competitors having expressed their interest to enter.

PDBC member Peter Stevenson will make his hotly anticipated return to the sand in his Class 2 buggy after time away completing upgrades. With his past results and experience in the sand ‘Stevo’ will certainly be one to watch this year.

Dave Davis has confirmed he will be back and will no doubt be looking to better his third outright from last year in his Saber Class 10. Peter Sibson will be looking for a podium finish in his Bennett trophy truck, after a very successful 2017 season including Class 4 honours in the ARB Australian Off Road Racing Series.

The race format will follow that of previous years with two heats on the Saturday, both with the hugely popular mass starts. The first race goes green at 11am and spectators are encouraged to be in the spectator area up on the sand dunes by 10.30am so they don’t miss out on any of the action.

Scrutineering is scheduled for 7pm-9pm on Friday 23rd February and all are welcome to attend.

This year the Sportzprint merchandise van will be at the event so you can get your King of the Dunes merchandise for the first time! Pre-orders are available online now [click here]; if you select local pick up your order will be printed and ready for pick up at the event. If you want your order before hand, select the appropriate freight option.

Free camping and catering will be available all weekend. The discounted entry fee of $250 closes Sunday 18th February with premium entries closing at 5pm on Friday 23rd February.

Please refer to the Spectator Information flyer for more info and make sure you keep up to date by liking the King of the Dunes Facebook page.
