2019 Calendar Announced for ARB AORRC
Wednesday, 12 September 2018
As the 2018 ARB Australian Off Road Racing Championship heads into the final round, the Committee have released the dates for the 2019 Championship, with a notable change to the make-up of the events.

Danny Brown, Championship Committee Chair explained… “2019 will see the Championship made up of five rounds instead of the six rounds of the previous two years. The Waikerie Riverland Off Road Club have taken the difficult decision to step back from a national level event to a state level for 2019, with the aim of resting the course”.

“The Griffith Club, who moved to March from their traditional July date in 2016 to open the series, have decided that after three years of dust and windy conditions at Stackpoole, that the optimal time of year for their event is moving back to July; therefore, Stackpoole will run on the weekend of 6-7 July.”

Danny continued, “the Waikerie club are in the processes of negotiating a date with the other South Australian events; we are hopeful of maintaining a two week gap between Stackpoole and Waikerie with the Waikerie date to be advised soon.”

James Lochert, President of the Waikerie Riverland Off Road Association added "WRORA has successfully hosted off road events for 40 years including more recently, rounds of the popular ARB Australian Off Road Championship.”

“2018 was a very dry year and consequently quite dusty; WRORA has decided to reassess our event. The committee would like to take time to consult with all parties involved in hosting and running the weekend, with our aim to continue to run a successful and sustainable event, choosing a format that minimises land degradation and also improves competitor satisfaction and safety. With this in mind, WRORA plans on being part of the ARB Championship series in July 2020. We wish all organising groups involved continued success in 2019.”

With Easter being an extremely busy time in Mildura with other festivities and in 2019 falling on the date of this year’s event, the Sunraysia Motorsports Association have slotted back a week to the 27-28 April and will take their place as the opening round of the 2019 ARB Australian Off Road Championship.

Sea Lake has been the place to be for the June long weekend – 8-9 June - for well over 40 years and 2019 will be no different as the second round. Round 3 as mentioned will be at Stackpoole; round 4 at Goondiwindi and round 5 at Millicent will hold their dates from 2018 August 17-18 and September 21-22 respectively.

Sunraysia April 27/28
Sea Lake June 8/9
Stackpoole July 6/7
Goondiwindi August 17/18
Pines September 21/22

“Competitor support of the Championship was strong throughout 2018 and we look forward to seeing all the regular faces, and hopefully new ones, at the 2019 Championship.”

Also, as in previous years, teams will register with the ARB Australian Off Road Racing Championship to qualify for the point score. Registration will open in early 2019 with 20 bonus points on offer for registrations received before the close of entries for the first round at Mildura.

“As a committee, we are committed to the charter agreed at the inaugural meeting… to promote a safe, fair and enjoyable family friendly series with a focus on a transparent, open and professional attitude to competitors.”

The final round of the 2018 ARB Australian Off Road Racing Championship heads to Millicent in the South Australian South East for the Teagle Excavations ARB Pines Enduro in late September with entries closing on Friday 14th September.
