Nathan Chivers and Scott O’Connor #676 topped the Colo Park Challenge timesheets at the end of day one of racing. Brad Knight #1078 slotted into second just 8 seconds off the pace of Chivers with Andrew and Dallas Johnson #199 in third place.

The track was in good condition following rain in the lead up week to the race; no dust and after the first couple of laps , no puddles.

#68 Craig Barnett was settling in to his new buggy (ex Brian Hardie) when the rear arm collapsed in the last race of the day; thoughts are that clipping the tree earlier in the day was probably the cause of this malfunction.

Lucky Mattuissi had a steering problem in his #831 international, which he is hoping to repair to rejoin the fight for points. Lucky celebrated his 79 birthday during the week and was hoping the gods would be kinder to him for this race.

Derek Rose debuted his new buggy and was coming to terms with it when a bolt holding the rack on snapped; luckily he found a replacement one and was back into the second heat only to have another problem drop him out after two laps.

#6639 Gavin Robinson was towed back into the pits with diff noises.

With a good spread of different types of machines making up the top ten and quite a few newcomers to the sport with their buggies and some older racers with new, to them, machines, it’s going to make for a great day two of racing for all.

Saturday results can be found here.
