In breaking news released today from the Sea Lake Off Road Club, the 2019 Mallee Rally has been cancelled.

In a statement from the club “the message we didn’t want to have to send! Unfortunately, due to running out of time, we are going to have to cancel this year’s Mallee Rally. We have tried our absolute hardest to navigate through the complicated legislation but now owe it to ourselves, sponsors and competitors to make the hard call of pulling the pin on this year and try to keep momentum going to have it 100% sorted for 2020! Hey, we were due to cancel this year anyway.”

Originally slated as the second round of the five round 2019 ARB Australian Off Road Racing Championship, the Sea Lake Mallee Rally was promoted to the opening round with the ongoing dry conditions seeing the cancellation last month of the Sunraysia 400.

Today’s news sees the ARB Town and Country Tyres Stackpoole 400 as the first of a now three round ARB Australian Off Road Racing Championship on 6-7 July. With now a late start to the Championship, Danny Brown, the Championship facilitator, had this to say “obviously, we all feel for the members of the Sea Lake club. It’s been a very difficult time for the hard working members and this was not a decision they made without due consideration. What it does make clear is that as a sport, we need to appreciate that we have events and land to race on. To keep our sport going, we need to support the clubs and land owners that give us the opportunity to race. So while we will only have three rounds to this year’s ARB Australian Off Road Racing Championship, we want competitors to support their local events; whether that be as an entry or pitch in and help as a volunteer.”

“We’re looking forward to the remaining three rounds and hoping that conditions improve to see a fuller ARB Australian Off Road Racing Championship in 2020.”
