Queen’s Birthday Weekend event announced for Moyston
Friday, 03 May 2019
Following the sad cancelation of the 2019 Sea Lake Mallee Rally, the Geelong Off Road Buggy Association, with the support of the Sea Lake Off Road Club, have decided to host an event at their Moyston venue on the Queen’s Birthday June Long weekend.

To allow for the Moyston event to be slotted into the calendar, GORBA will move their Avalon event scheduled for 11th May to 7th September in place of the calendared Moyston event.

Many aspects of the change were discussed by the GORBA members, and they felt it was a good way to keep the Queen’s Birthday weekend of racing in Victoria alive and kicking for this year. It will also alleviate the concern of the potential cancelation of the Avalon May event due to dust is no longer an issue.

The Moyston weekend will be start with all scrutineering to be done Saturday afternoon. This will allow for an early start Sunday morning with a full day of racing planned. Sunday's racing will be followed by a dinner and presentation at the local hall so everyone can relax and travel home on Monday. Showers will be available Saturday and Sunday afternoon / night.

The entry fee will be set at $175. More details on the event format for the Sunday will be released shortly.

The Samba Metal Works Moyston Short Course will be the third round of the Victorian Off Road Club Shield and the first round of the three round Ryco Filters Club Championship.

Also note that with the cancellation of the Sea Lake event, GORBA have removed both it and the Finke Desert Race from the Ryco Filters Club Championship.

On a positive note, GORBA have lodged the event documentation with AASA for the June Moyston event and are happy to say they have been signed off and received back.

“Once again we thank the SLORC for their support and look forward to racing back there next year, but for this year we are looking forward to having a great short course event over the Queen’s Birthday weekend here in Victoria.”

Event Information will be published shortly.
