Murdock in his Element at Mumbannar
Saturday, 18 May 2019
Perfect weather and tight racing was the order of the day at the GT Bobcat Mumbannar 160 held just over the Victorian border from Mount Gambier.

30 teams fronted the start line to take on the 10km heavy sand laden sprint track. The father and son combination of Andy and Fletcher Murdoch claimed outright victory in the debut run of their new #66 Element Prodigy; the move from the Fusion Class 4 truck to the Unlimited buggy class over the off season paying dividends.

Murdoch’s total time of 1h43m14seconds was enough to secure the outright win even though Jason Peel and Daniel Lamb #44 greeted the checkered flag first on the road. Peel, a former Mumbannar winner himself, drove a solid 2 heats but just fell short of the top spot having to settle for second outright on time and just 12 seconds behind Murdoch – 1h43m26seconds.

Surprising all his much more fancied competitors Tim Walker with wife Angela and Damien Rowe sharing the navigator duties, in the recently restored ex Trevor Oakley #371 machine, came home with an unbelievable 3rd outright. Tim pushed his 1300cc buggy all the way using parts of the track that were untried by most to put himself into the final podium position. More results to come.
