Century Batteries Wynarka Enduro Attracting Plenty of Interest
Friday, 02 August 2019
Southern Australia off roaders will soon turn their attention to the town of Wynarka in the South Australian Mallee country for Round 4 of the ARB SAORRA Multi Club series on August 10th & 11. With 2 weekends to go the current entry list sits at 34 competitor teams, with an expectation of 40 plus, by the time the race starts. Teams are coming from far and wide, Victoria’s Sunraysia district, NSW, South East SA as well as SA’s West coast, Iron Triangle and Barossa region and with discounted entries closing on Thursday 8th August, now is the time to fill in your entry form and secure you position on the start line for this popular South Australian event.

The 35th running of the Wynarka Enduro will recognise the generosity of the Landowners, the Martin Family, and the place they have in the Summit Racing Team Car Club family, as without their assistance and charitableness, both the Summit RTCC and Karoonda Lions club would not have enjoyed the success this event has brought both groups.

The track itself is a driver’s technical track on limestone, sand and clay combining tight twisty sections and long straights to stretch the legs of the off road racing machines. The Wynarka Enduro is in its 35th year and is a popular South Australian based event drawing 40 plus cars year on year. This event normally attracts a quality outright field, as well as good numbers across all classes.

The 2014 Outright winner Brenton Forsyth is locked in and dual winner in 2006 and 2007 Trevor Copeland is set to make a comeback this year. We are hoping for more of the past winners to return to chase the title; Aaron and Liz Haby (2011, 2015, 2016) and Carl Haby (2012, 2013, 2018) we will also see if anyone can top the lap record of 9:45:14 – Jack Rhodes (2015).

The course is 20km long with normally 40 plus cars, so there is always action in front of the spectator areas. The track passes the main spectator area, (which is also the camp area) 5 times per lap, so following the race / placing’s is quite easy, and the ability to see who is catching up or losing time is noticeable throughout the lap. Also with a race start of two cars every 20 seconds both days, the action is fast and furious from the start of the race. Racing will be both Saturday afternoon and Sunday, so there will be plenty of action for both competitors and spectators all weekend.

Format –
Saturday – 6 Laps / 20Km lap
Sunday – 8 Laps straight / 20Km lap

“We are again this year trying to inject excitement into the event. Competitors will again be receiving a promotional pack from Century Batteries at registration. The spectators, crew and families are not forgotten at Wynarka, as camping facilities are also very good with flushing toilets, hot showers, grassed area camping and a canteen on both Saturday and Sunday operating (no Saturday tea). There will also be plenty of give aways for the kids, supplied by our race sponsor Century Batteries.

For those unable to make it to Wynarka, live results will be available across the weekend through

"In 2019 we are hoping again for a strong field to race at Wynarka. We look forward to seeing you and your club members at Wynarka this year and thank you for your support to both SA Off Roading and the sport in general."
