The Hindmarsh Shire Rainbow Desert Enduro has had a major boost with the event reaching a record number of competitors ahead of the 2019 edition this month.

After entries closed at the end of July, 55 crews have confirmed their place in the BFGoodrich CAMS Australian Off Road Championship’s season finale in the Victorian town of Rainbow.

With the AORC and the CAMS Victorian Off Road Championship both running at the Enduro, the number is a healthy increase from last year which had 46 crews tackling the course.

Victorian Off Road Racing Association’s Tony Carabott was thrilled with the record number of competitors, hoping it would add to the event’s success.

“We are really happy because it’s a record for us because we have never had 55 crews and it’s really good,” Carabott said.

“We would have liked more but we are rapt that we have more than last year so we are pretty thankful.

“We have all the top runners for the Australian Championship and the Victorian championship, as well as the club shield so it’s going to be busy weekend.”

While there are a few big names missing from the entry list, the major players fighting for the title are locked in with Shannon Rentsch and Mark Burrows set to continue their battle for the top.

A number of class title contenders are also in with both Alexandra Howells and 2017 outright champion Matthew Martin both entered to fight it out for the Pro-Lite buggies.

SXS Turbo leader Nick Jackson will also have his hands full with Allen Henson, Greg Campbell and Roydn Bailey all vying for the class title, while less than 35 points separates SXS Sport leader Rick Chambers from John Wise and Chris Land.

The Hindmarsh Shire Rainbow Desert Enduro takes place in the rural Victorian town of Rainbow on 9 – 11 August.
