Announcement from the Warialda Motor Sports Club

It is with the heaviest of hearts that the Warialda Motor Sports Club have made the agonising decision to cancel the running of this years Hunter Rivmasta Warialda Off Road 200.

This comes off the back of the worst drought we have seen in our area on record. Our landholders are doing it remarkably tough as is all of the other farming families around Warialda. It would be absolutely disastrous for the land to run the race this year and the effects of this would be felt for years to come, and possibly jeopardise our future of racing at this amazing venue. For us to get the water we need into the track to make it passable, and most importantly SAFE for all competitors is impossible, not to mention being unethical to cart the towns water supply to put into a track for a sport when families need water for living purposes as it currently stands.

We would like to thank our land owners, sponsors, volunteers, spectators, competitors and everyone that is involved with this great race for your understanding and assistance through this tough time.

Eventually it will rain and once it does, we will be back up and running stronger and better than ever. This decision has come from tonight’s monthly meeting and has had to be made now to give plenty of notice to all competitors, volunteers and other events after ours.

The one thing we ask is the please get out and support the New South Wales championship events still yet to run. We hope to see you all next year at the Warialda Off Road Racing 200 in full force for a spectacular season of off road racing.
