Discounted entries closing tonight for Don River Dash
Tuesday, 20 August 2019
Discounted entries for the inaugural Don River Dash 300 close at midnight tonight Tuesday 20th August.

Hosted but the Burdekin Offroaders Inc, the joint car and motorbike event has attracted 27 entries so far and with a cap of 45, there’s only 18 spots left.

Now’s the time to jump online and submit your entry to save yourself the premium entry fee, as it’s going to be a fun and challenging event and one you don’t want to miss.

Cars will race down the bitumen streets of Bowen from the showgrounds start line for a few kilometres before dropping into the dry riverbed of the Don River.

The track will then head approximately 25km upstream in the riverbed to the turnaround point, returning back on the other side of the riverbed. Three laps of the river will make up Saturday’s first section before competitors leave the riverbed and head to the finish line in Bowen. When the cars have finished, the motorbikes will take to the track. Both cars and bikes will follow the same format for Sunday’s racing, giving a total race distance of 320km.

A $1,000 cash prize will be awarded to the King of the River going to the fastest car or bike to finish the event.

“As a club we’re proud of what we’ve achieved with our track and facilities at Burdekin, but the chance to have a race in the Don River was too good an opportunity to miss. The support we’ve received from the Bowen Whitsundays Regional Council has been great” explained Michael Marson, Burdekin Offroaders Inc Club President.
