Sydney Off Road Racing Association's home track at Colo Park was recently devastated by the Gospers Mountain Fire.

Many drivers and navigators have made their racing debut at Colo Park and have fond memories of the track. After 40 years of contributions and hard work from volunteers the site has been completely burnt out.

Club President Shane Ramsay stated "All aspects of the facilities must now be fully rebuilt. Whilst they may look somewhat intact, the buildings will have to be completely demolished and scrap removed. The main shed known as Ross' Barn (named after the late Ross Barnes) suffered an internal fire, leaving the metal frames warped and fatigued. The toilet block has suffered cracking in the brick work and is considered to be unsafe. Also lost are the club’s timing tower, water tanks, and containers holding the generator and equipment necessary to hold events."

The fire also destroyed the recently purchased backhoe, grader, tipper, water truck and work ute. Further casualties are the 20+ vehicles used for young driver training and khanacross.

Ramsay continues, "With many tracks in NSW not able to host events due to the drought, Colo was a venue that could still be utilised in such harsh conditions. Unfortunately, going ahead it will be very difficult to have the necessary infrastructure in place to host any events for some time. "

The club has limited funds to rebuild and has started an appeal through GoFundMe. Whilst they appreciate any contribution large or small, the total at last check was $2950 - A far cry from the estimated $100,000 plus required to rebuild and replace even the basics of lost infrastructure. The club would like to continue supporting Off Road Racing in Australia and humbly request any assistance from past or present racers, or the wider general public. If every Off Roader in Australia donated even $10, the club would be well on the path to rebuilding.
