After a 8 month hiatus from the track and a crazy 2020 to date, Warialda’s Frog Hollow Racing returned to behind the wheel at last weekends ‘Zooms Cup’ held between Texas and Inglewood.

Derek ‘Wheelie’ Rose and Toby Cooper in the navigators seat put forward a huge prologue run in the #62 Southern Cross, storming home after a near miss to score the fastest qualifying time by a mere second, placing them at the front of a 29 car grid for the race proper!

Shortly after taking off for Saturdays three 14km laps, Wheelie suffered a broken gear stick ending any hopes of a clean run on a technical circuit that had everything. Fortunately, for the team, Derek fought hard and still managed to finish first on road, however slipped to third place on times!

Sunday’s action saw three heats of 2 laps, and despite a major flat tyre on the opening lap which dropped Wheelie to 13th position, the rest of the day went flawlessly. With an outright podium now out of reach, Wheelie in the #62 clawed his way back through the pack finishing the weekend sixth outright and second in class; a great confidence booster for the rest of the season considering he was running with the top two of Comiskey and McNiven all weekend.

The team would like to express a huge shout out to JJ Rose for all his help over the weekend and to Bill Coote for getting the car in shape to hit the Inglewood terrain. Bring on Warialda in September.
