Thursday, 23 July 2020
Queenslanders are heading north to Moranbah this weekend for the inaugural Newman Excavations 100, round 3 of the Mickey Thompson Off Road AORRA Queensland Off Road Racing Championship.

The 52 entered teams will be aiming to do 12 laps of the 8km short course track over two days. Michael Mifsud, Mackay Off Road Racing Club representative said “we’ve got a great field of 52 entries for our first event and we really appreciate the support of Queensland offroaders”.

“We had a good drop of rain yesterday which has dampened the track, so I won’t need the water truck out there today”

The format for the Newman Excavations 100 will be one lap followed by three 2-lap races on Saturday with 2 more 2-lap races on Sunday morning with one lap race to finish off the 12 lap event.

“I’d like to thank the Moranbah Police for all their assistance and the property owner Ray Newman for all his support and help.

Friday night kicks off the with scrutiny and a display of the off road machinery. “Spectators are welcome, so come on down and enjoy the festivities. It’s free entry and catering will be onsite”
