A huge field of Queensland off road car and bike racers attacked the North Queensland Don River today with the second running of the Whitsunday Regional Council Don River Dash 300.

2019 saw the inaugural running of the event with a car and bike fields of roughly 40 each which has ballooned out to 76 car starters and 140 bike for the 2020 incarnation; a massive achievement for the Burdekin Offroaders club members given the current Covid-19 climate.

As competitors head into the overnight break Michael Marson and John Moore #32 tops the time sheets after three 50 kilometre laps through the rough and tumble of the dry Don River riverbed.

Toby Price, driving the Billy Geddes Trophy Truck #441 slotted into second place, unable to rein in a charging Marson, while pulling a 1m25s gap to last years day one victor Talbot Cox and Craig King #16.

Tony Fehlhaber and Gary Howell #138 narrowly secured fourth place, just 16 seconds ahead of Rohan and Aaron Merchant #1096.

48 of the 75 entries completed the three laps of racing today.
