Vale Chris Levi
Thursday, 26 November 2020
It is with heaviest of hearts that we acknowledge the sudden and tragic passing of one of New South Wales’s great characters Chris Levi on Monday. The Australian off-road family is once again left to mourn the loss of a rare gem, a devoted family man whose love and passion for off-road racing was acquired by his best mate and father Len.

Highly regarded by all as one of the hard chargers of NSW, Chris will be remembered more for his contagious smile, priceless banter and his ability to have an effect on so many people in so many ways during his time on earth.

As its often said that the family that race together stay together and for Chris this was so very true, Levi’s father Len started the family love for the sport in the mid 1980’s piloting his super1650 machine to three state class titles before handing the reigns to Chris in 2000 where the roles were reversed.

Campaigning their trusty Manxco 1650 to class win after win Chris with Len in the navy’s seat were rewarded with the 2004 NSW Class title, a raw talent who left everything on the track was quickly becoming one of NSW’s most feared competitors. The pair had their downs as well, but every cloud has a silver lining. A huge accident at Warialda in 2010 which saw the Manxco end over end 5 times allowed them to take a break and upgrade their machine with the rewards quickly following.

The favourable father and son duo who possessed an honourable ‘drive it like you stole it’ attitude were back in a big way, dominant back to back outright victories at their beloved Kempsey 250 in 2013/2014 their highest achievements in an era dominated by higher powered machines.

Chris has left a mark on everyone in the off-road community, will be sorely missed and never forgotten, but his greatest legacy in life was the welcoming of his two beautiful children Phoebe and Liam who will keep the Levi spirit alive.

As tributes continue to flow on and around social media, it is a warm reminder of how close knit the off-road family really is and that no one is alone. Chris, your story has been cut tragically short but you certainly packed a lot of live into those years.

Rest in Peace mate, pit lane will never be the same.
